Allan John Kwadwo Kyerematen’s Movement for Change has officially transitioned into the United Party, also known as UP Plus — a move that marks a new chapter and pays homage to a historically significant name in Ghana’s political landscape.
At the launch event, Party Chairman Abubakar Saddique Boniface described the rebrand as a renewed pledge to uphold good governance and drive transformational leadership.
“We are introducing UP Plus as a political force committed to meaningful change,” he said. “Our focus is on universal values and competent leadership — not just selecting leaders, but choosing individuals who are credible, visionary, and capable.”
Alan Kyerematen, the party’s founder and leader, emphasized that the rebranding signals a fresh beginning for Ghanaian politics. He outlined the party’s mission to foster accountability, combat corruption, and offer a viable alternative to the winner-takes-all system.
“This new era will spark economic transformation, generate widespread employment, and usher in a golden age for business and national prosperity,” he stated.
He added that UP Plus aims to harness the collective talents of all Ghanaians — regardless of age, ethnicity, religion, or political affiliation — while promoting transparency, environmental protection, and sustainable development.
The United Party received its official registration from the Electoral Commission on October 3, 2025, solidifying its new identity.
